Blackmagic Design DaVinci Resolve 17 M1 powered MacsĢ4 hours after the announcement of DaVinci Resolve 17, a new announcement was made by Apple, presenting its new M1 powered Macs. Make sure to read our article that covers this announcement (( DaVinci Resolve 17 Released: “The Biggest Update in the History of DaVinci”). There is no post-production segment of the software that has left behind. Resolve 17 includes over 100 new features and 200 improvements in almost every aspect (Cut, Edit, Color, Fairlight, and Fusion). Resolve 17 constitutes a major upgrade compared to the last version (16.3) and defined as “The biggest update in the history of DaVinci” by Blackmagic’s CEO Grant Petty. Blackmagic Design DaVinci Resolve 17: Color page DaVinci Resolve 17īlackmagic Design has released DaVinci Resolve 17 at the beginning of this week. According to Blackmagic, Resolve 17.1 offers up to 5 times better performance. Now you should be able to select the resolution and have 200% DPI scaling.Four days after the massive release of DaVinci Resolve 17, Blackmagic has pushed to users the 17.1 version, which was built to support the newly released M1 powered Macs.Click "Test", then "Yes" to save the custom resolution., then "OK" to exit the dialogue window. Now type in the resolution - 5120x2880.Here, check the box "Enable resolutions not exposed by the display" and then click "Create Custom Resolution.". Then go to "Change resolution", "Customize.".Go into Nvidia Control Panel -and choose "Adjust desktop size and resolution", select "GPU" resolution scaling instead of "Display".The way these super resolutions work is different per graphics card vendor, you need to have your GPU handling it. Now you can start DaVinci Resolve normally and the UI looks great! So another way of fixing this, even in 17.4, is to use "super resolutions": set a resolution of 5120x2880, then use 200% DPI scaling. The key to this issue is that DPI scaling is only respected at 100% or 200%.Īt 4K screens, default is set to 150%, which end up in error for DR with the big 1080p interface. Hope this helps! Happy editing and grading! Or just replace the target on the Resolve shortcut in Start Menu to: powershell.exe -WindowStyle Hidden "$Env:QT_DEVICE_PIXEL_RATIO=1 $Env:QT_AUTO_SCREEN_SCALE_FACTOR=2 start 'C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Resolve.exe'" If anyone wants to have Resolve scaled like that while keeping the rest of the system on the 150% scaling setting you just type that into PowerShell: cd "C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\" Voila! Perfect! I can now see so many things at once it really improves my workflow I've just reversed the numbers and got this: I stumbled upon the post by blogger Himbeer, who had an opposite issue as they run their system on 100% 4K scaling, but they wanted to scale their Resolve UI to be more condensed. I was looking for a way to force the Blackmagic Design software to think it's running on a system that's using 100% scaling, but I was unsuccessful until recently. Or it presents a blurry "zoomed out" interface when forced to scale down using Windows High-DPI settings:īetter, but not ideal - the blur starts to hurt eyes during longer editing sessions Way too big - poor use of screen real estate For some reason Resolve only works in two modes - it either shows the interface scale designed for 1080p monitors, which is a waste of space on a big 4K monitor IMHO: On my 27" LG 4K monitor anything below 150% scaling is difficult to read, so I'm sticking with it for the system-wide scaling. Like I said there - every other app seems to scale properly but Resolve. If you just want to get to it, here's the link -> Ī while ago I was asking around for a way to get 4K (100%) user interface of DaVinci Resolve on a system set for 150% scaling.
